The student's goal becomes the meeting's agenda

The student's university, programme and exam goals; the requirements of each open from the catalogue and become the agenda of the meeting.

Coaching here is the joining of two records: the student's goals and the counsellor's meeting record. The student sets a university, programme or exam goal; its requirements open from the catalogue and sit in the calendar. The counsellor sees the same list, puts it on the agenda in the meeting and writes the next step into the meeting record.

On the institution's side, goals are gathered at class and school level: how many students have a goal, which programmes stand out, whose goal has a requirement deadline approaching. You open the meeting not with "how are you" but with the student's goal list.

The goal is the student's, the list is shared

The student sets the goal; the counsellor sees the same list. You open it together in the meeting; who will do what is written into the meeting record.

Requirements from the catalogue

When a programme goal is chosen, the exam, score type and calendar come as requirements. The counsellor reads the missing requirement from the list; they don't have to ask the student.

As the calendar approaches

Exam and application dates sit next to the goal. Approaching dates are in the student's calendar and in yours; you plan the meeting accordingly.

Common questions

Who sets the goal, the student or the counsellor?

The student sets it; the counsellor sees the same list. In the meeting the list is opened together, and who will do what is written into the meeting record. Because the requirements come from the catalogue, you read what is missing from the list; you don't interrogate the student.
